About Me

Hey, my name is Alex and I am 17 years old. For the past three years I have been taking a world views class. It started out as just a normal class. I read some books, jotted down some notes and turned in my assignments, but it very soon became more then just that. I began to discover a new person inside of me, someone I didn't know yet, but who was a part of me. If I had not taken this class and done things the way I had, I might have never discovered and met the person I am today.

Just a few things about me
I'm a Christian and love my country. I love playing and writing song on the guitar. I enjoy hanging out with my friends. Going out on dates, going to dances and different group activities. I'm an eagle scout and enjoy the outdoors. I enjoy reading all kinds of things, but I wouldn't necessarily call myself a reader. I enjoy school and learning and can honestly say that I don't dislike or hate any subject. I'm interested in government, law, philosophy, theology, political science, math, history, art, and a bunch of other random things.

Now to get back to the main thing I'd like to discuss, world views. What is a world view? Why am I talking about or giving any thought to them at all? Stated simply, a world view is a persons beliefs. It is how they look at and observe the world around them. Through my experience of being exposed to different world views; Aristotelianism, Platonism, communism, Calvinism, transcendentalism, Buddhism and other countless major world views I have come to realize how vitally important they are to know and understand.

Knowing other world views will help people understand one another better. I think that is one of the biggest problems in the world today. People just don't understand one another. Another problem is that people don't understand themselves, their own world view. I'm not here to point out or make a show of one world view over another. I just want to share what I love and believe with others. I find all of theses different world views so fascinating. Studying them has strengthened and help me understand my personal world view so much better. I truly think that by studying and understanding them people will be able to understand each other better. And that the world could be better place because of it.
